										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Every morning and evening we witness the sunrise and the sunset in a colorful play. Luminous stars virtually hover over us like a parade during the night. We do not even notice the revolution of the earth around the sun and the specific movements of other planets and the stars in our galaxy while we remain busy with our daily lives. If we could take a closer look at the Milky Way which seems to be motionless, we would witness each amazing maneuver of the billions of stars and planets. The Milky Way galaxy is 200 thousand light years wide in the shape of a giant rotating disc and includes seven galactic arms in a spiral shape. It has been considered as a host to 100 billion stars like our sun. It is estimated that 125 billion more galaxies like the Milky Way exist in our universe. Just like how our sun is composed of planet moons, our galaxy also has smaller galaxy moons. These ten or so smaller galaxies revolve around the milky way as it rotates slowly like a machinery wheel. Sets of galaxies gaining distance from each other, planets revolving around stars, stars circling each other and stars orbiting galaxies &#8230; what a glory to watch!</p>
<p><span id="more-1428"></span></p>
<h3><b>Galaxy and the Sun</b></h3>
<p>The 21 cm long radio wave radiation emitted from the hydrogen gas within the dense dust and gas clouds of the arms of the galaxy enables us to know about the structure of the galaxy. This information led us to conclude that our galaxy is indeed not a solid object and displays a circular motion of 250 km per second. The Solar system is estimated to complete one revolution around the galaxy in approximately 200 million years. At this point the critical question that comes to mind is how a solar system orbit is maintained and protected during these journeys where the solar system bypasses the gravitation and effects of strong heavenly bodies without causing disruption and collisions. The Earth just won&#8217;t become a habitable place only by considering planetary solutions. We may have to consider measures regarding our solar system and other galaxies, since the solar system has a very sensitive relation with the other heavenly systems in our galaxy.</p>
<h3><b>The Sun&#8217;s position in the Milky Way </b></h3>
<p>Trillions of comets in the Milky Way galaxy fill the outer space and encompass the solar system in a globular fashion. One of the comet groups orbiting the solar system is called Oort or Opic-Oort cloud. A hundred billion comets is estimated to exist in the Oort cloud.</p>
<p>These comets follow the designated orbits until they deorbit with gravity of another strong heavenly body other that the sun. Stars and masses of the Milky Way constitute a globular center with spiral arms where these arms extend out of the center in the same galactic plane. There are a limited number of systems located in the space between these spiral galactic arms. In fact, this is where our solar system exists. In other words, it deserves attention that the sun does not reside in the dense centric part of the galactic arm Orion (Hunter) but exists in the nearby sparsely populated galactic mid space. The solar system that has been placed in the most appropriate position within the Milky Way also needs to be protected from possible dangers it may encounter (like crossing paths with dense spiral arms) during its journey around center of the Milky Way.</p>
<p>Scientist who study the place of our solar system in galactic maps particularly point out that we are far away and safe from the devastating effects of cosmic storms.</p>
<p>If the solar system did exist in the arm where stars are densely populated and near each other, gravitational forces could result in changes in planetary orbits. For instance, in the spiral arms of the galaxy, comets would easily deorbit and bombard the earth momentarily under the strong gravitational force of these arms. Yet remarkable measures have been taken to protect against this as well! One of them is the velocity value of the Sun. For example, in order to provide an effective communication, a satellite positioned in the earth orbit is given a speed equal to the one earth has for rotating around its axis. Our sun is given a suitable velocity to move with almost the same speed of galactic arms without intercepting each other, thus providing a safe passage. However this is not the case in 95% of the stars and the spiral arms in our galaxy unlike the one determined for our solar system. This is something to reflect and think about. Another measure that prevents the sun from intersecting with the spiral arms is that it has a circular orbit rather than in the form of an ellipse like stars of the same age. Also in this regard, we observe that our sun is given a special movement allowing Earth to become a habitable place for life. The All-Wise and All-Mighty Creator works the galaxies just like a giant machinery wheel with his established laws.</p>
<p>The stars in the spiral arms may in time get sucked into the inner parts of the structure, not being able to hold on to their position for a long period of time. This is also applicable for the sun. Divine measures also intervene here and leave the sun in the protective zone. The sun is located in the &#8220;galactic common rotational radius&#8221; where strong spiral arm effects do not exist. Furthermore, when Supernova explosions take place, giant star debris can reach a couple thousand light years away, enabling the sun not to be negatively affected from these explosions since it exists in the outer regions of the arms.</p>
<h3><b>Cosmic dangers in the galactic center</b></h3>
<p>The solar system is 28,000 light years away from galaxy center. If our galaxy is considered to be 200 thousand light years wide, one can say that we are relatively close to the center.</p>
<p>This location in the galaxy is distant enough to be protected from the negative effects that could arise from the galaxy center. What would happen if the solar system was closer?</p>
<p>In this case we would constantly be exposed to dangerous gamma, X-ray, and cosmic radiations, therefore no life on Earth! Not to mention the black hole in the galaxy center which has a mass 3 million times as much as the sun. If the sun were to exist near the black hole, life on earth would again be negatively affected from the strong gravity of it. The extraordinary measures that have been taken for our solar system, the sensitive adjustments that are put in place, and the maintenance of such balance and complexity all displays a perfect science and a Divine power in the background. All these events demonstrate clearly that no single event of randomness and chaos exists in the universe. The most complicated and sensitive tasks are resolved in the best possible way, therefore revealing a perfect organization. We see this perfect organization between the Milky Way, the solar system and the earth!</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Dear Peter! My fellow organs in your body have been telling you about themselves. You have seen that each of them fulfills different special tasks. But did you ever stop to ask where they sit or what they hang on to? Since nothing can float by itself in space, your organs and tissues need a support to settle in their places. When you build a house, you add blinds, ceiling lamps, doors, and windows. Before you install these details, you build the beams and columns, which are called the “framework” of the house. Without this framework, you would not be able to attach any of those details in their place. Similarly, I am a very important system, which provides a shelter for your organs and a support for them to be stable in their places. My skull protects and hides your delicate eyes and brain; I hold your heart, kidneys, lungs, stomach, and intestines in different ways and serve as a barrier against external impacts, and I provide proper places for all your organs to work comfortably. Contrary to your other organs and systems, I seem to have a simpler structure-which consists of bones, cartilages, and connective tissues-but they are all brought together in an appropriate combination and order. The fact that my structure is simpler does not mean I am not a work of art. Indeed, the shapes and structure of each of my bones demonstrate how perfectly designed I am. All of your other organs have been made of very delicate and soft tissues, which could be easily damaged. I fulfill the important task of protecting your brain and sensorium, which are vulnerable to bumps, shocks, drying, and heat. My other important duty is allowing your body to move: my bones are appointed with the task of building a proper lever system, which helps the movement of your legs so that you can walk around comfortably and also helps the motions of your arms and hands so that you can do physical jobs easily.</p>
<p><span id="more-1109"></span></p>
<p>I consist of 217 bones in your body (however, since the bones in the thigh and sacrum areas fuse together in order to form a stronger bone, their number decreases, and the anatomists accept the number of bones as 206). I have 22 skull bones, 33 spinal bones, 24 rib bones, 64 bones in the hands, the forearms, the arms and the shoulder girdle and 66 bones in the feet, the legs, the thighs and the hip area. In addition, I have 6 small ear bones, 1 breastbone and 1 hyoid bone (at the root of your tongue), which make up the total of my 217 bones. It is quite amazing that so many different bones have cooperated with each other and contributed to such a perfect system.</p>
<p>Each piece of my skeleton has been created with special shape and quality that is proper to its place and duty. The bones that protect your brain are flat, whereas the bones in your arms and legs are long and cylindrical; while the bones in your wrists and ankles are short and rounded, your hips and girdles have been made of wide and big bones. The craggy surface of my bones makes it easy for the muscles to attach to them firmly. Each bone has certain durability that protects me from undue weight, flexure, twisting, and pressure. Bioengineers carefully examine my bones that have been created in a perfect form for where they are positioned and for what they do. They take my wonderful structure as a model, and they use it for producing new technology such as buildings or bridges. As you know, constructional engineers have to be very careful in their estimates of material and durability. They have to use different materials for different places, and these points will be exposed to forces like pressure, compression, tensile, or flexure (bending). If the estimates of the materials are not made accurately, the building or the bridge can easily collapse. When you humans build a strong building, it might be too heavy and bulky, resulting in a waste of material and money. Even if you use good quality material, if you do not use it in the right place, all your work might be unusable. Unlike human beings, the Creator has made me such a delicate and well-balanced system, in which you cannot find any material missing or unnecessary or any wrong line in a particular bone. That can only be explained with the boundless knowledge of God the Almighty. He knows exactly how you will be able to do hundreds of different movements in all your life-including running, lying down, jumping, lifting a heavy item, playing sports, writing, and eating. In order to allow you to perform those actions, He has created a perfect design for each piece of my bones and the joints that connect them.</p>
<p>In building my structure, He has used materials in different hardness and durability to make your movements easy. The first material is the bones. Not all bones are the same. Compact bone (dense bone) is found in my hardest parts. For example, the long bodies of the femur, the tibia, and the fibula (bones between knee and ankle) are made of compact bone, and they are very rigid and strong. Softer bones, which look like a sponge, are found at the edges of those long bones and within my flat bones. The second material, my cartilage, is placed at the bone edges and on the joints where, by absorbing excessive pressure, the cartilages are able to prevent damage to the surface of joints and to the nerves that go through the vertebra. My cartilages achieve this thanks to their soft and flexible substance, which also provides a perfect aesthetical quality. In addition, because of this flexibility given by God, cartilages protect the bones from breaking easily (depending on the rigidity of the bones), and they balance your strong and abrupt movements. If it were not for the cartilages on the joints, not only the bony surface would be damaged but also my movements would be mechanical and harsh just like those of a robot. My third material is the ligament, and its main substance, the fibers, that are made of collagen protein. The fibers of this ligament are very strong straps, which hold my bones and cartilages together.</p>
<p>All my joints and tendons that fasten the muscles to my bones are tied up and strengthened by those ligament fibers, which vary in shape, length, and quality. The collagen fibers are also used as the basic substance of my bones and cartilages. Those fibers, which are placed among the cells of the tissues of my bones and cartilages, provide the tissues with strength and durability. The distribution of the fibers in my bones is determined according to the direction and intensity of the pressure coming upon me. To see an example, you can look at the head of my femur (between my knee and thigh) where it makes a joint with the thigh bone. The spread and design of the fibers placed right at this joint requires a flawless calculation, which you can better understand by examining a diagram of it.</p>
<p>Not all my joints are flexible in the same degree. For example, the joints in your skull, which protects your brain and sensorium, resemble the toothed blade of a saw. They are strong joints, which are firmly locked with each other, and they allow no mobility. Of course, it can be no one but God who is able to give my skull such strength and hardness, since He knows exactly how much protection my delicate brain, eyes, and ears need. Moreover, my skull is not shaped simply as a bony capsule; at certain places, God has put little channels for the blood vessels to go through, little cavities for the sensory organs, and a big hole for the spinal cord to connect to the brain. Can any of these be formed by coincidence? The joints between the vertebrae (little bones of your spine) are more movable than the skull and less movable than your fingers. They help to allow you stand upright and sit, twist, and bend or lie down. The joints in my shoulders and legs are freely movable, which enables you to do movements in all directions. Perhaps the most wonderful of all are the joints in your hands! It would not be a distortion to say that-behind all your work to make a discovery or an invention or a new technology-is the skillful creation of my hand joints. Everything that you use with your hands-including all kinds of tools, furniture or appliances, art works, and books-can be produced or utilized only through the perfect ability of my joints to move. If my fingers lacked that great ability to move freely, many of my thoughts or intentions would not be able to be translated into actions.</p>
<p>Your muscles that help in the movement of all my movable parts have to attach to my bones to be supported. While one end of your muscle holds my bone firmly, the other end pulls another bone with the help of the joints. That is how movement in your body occurs and how you can take a step, do exercise, or wave your hand.</p>
<p>Although not as much as the skin, I have a very good ability to renew myself. When one of my bones is broken, if you line up the two pieces exactly in relationship to each other, the bone cells, called osteoblast, quickly divide to produce new cells, fill the gap, and repair the break. Then, I take calcium salts, which harden and strengthen the area, and gain back my health. Calcium is a vital mineral in the growth of bones. When you are a little but growing fetus in your mother’s womb, you need plenty of calcium for your bones to develop. If your mother gets sufficient amounts of dairy products, fish, and green vegetables, there will not be a calcium deficiency. But the good news is that, even if an expectant mother does not get enough calcium, the unborn baby is unlikely to have calcium deficiency. That is because Our Lord God, whose Mercy is infinite, provides baby with calcium by making it be absorbed from the mother’s bones and teeth and ensures the healthy development of the baby’s tiny skeleton. The mother has the willpower to feed herself, but since the baby is helpless, its need is met by the calcium taken from the mother’s body. After birth, the baby has to be nourished well with calcium and vitamin D by means of healthy foods, and it has to have enough exposure to sunlight. In order to maintain my health, my biggest need is calcium salts and vitamin D, a vitamin that needs the body’s exposure to the sun in order to contribute to healthy bone growth. For this reason, you have to take care of me especially at your young age. If you do not get those salts and vitamins, your bones will not develop well, and this could result in skeleton disorders.</p>
<p>The cavities within my bones are called marrow cavities (or medullar space) and they have important duties too. If your bones were filled merely with bony substance, my weight would be too much, and you would not even be able to stand up. Moreover, my bones would not be as strong as they are now. According to calculations with static forces, a rounded iron stick, which is filled, is less durable than the one with a hole in it, and the stick with a hole in it can be bent easily. My long, rounded bones have been designed according to that principle, and they are more resistant to twisting and bending. Another important function of my marrow cavities is to house the production of little red blood corpuscles, which have important duties within the blood. When you are young, all my bone marrows are red, and they produce red blood cells. Then, slowly after the puberty, the bone marrows in my long rounded bones start to turn yellow, get fatty, and produce white blood cells. The spongy bone marrows in my flat bones, however, stay red in color during your entire life, and they keep producing red blood cells.</p>
<p>The shape and size of my bones and their proportions to each other all determine the shape and quality of your body. Although I develop according to my genetically inherited qualities, the loads that you made me carry and outside impacts all affect my development significantly. When you are a baby, my bones start out as cartilages. At young ages when I am just starting to become bony, if I have to carry too heavy things, I start to harden and become bony too fast. This leads to the incomplete growth of the length of your neck bones, and your arms and legs which will remain too short. Playing basketball or volleyball stimulates the growth and elongation of your bones. Mineral salts, vitamin D, and the hormones secreted by the parathyroid gland play role in the ossification of my bones. The elongation of my long bones is achieved by the cell division and formation of new cells in the areas called epiphysis, which are the rounded ends of the long bones. This bone-lengthening process ends after puberty. While the lengthening of bones stops earlier in girls around ages eighteen or nineteen, it continues in boys until the ages twenty-one or twenty-two, which is the reason why men are generally taller than women.</p>
<p>When you were born, all of my components were cartilages, which are very soft and flexible. That is the measure that the all-knowing and all-caring God has taken, to ensure that neither you nor your dear mother gets any harm during your birth. If I became bony before the birth, your mother could die, and many of your bones could break during the birth. However, thanks to the cartilaginous components, which are like plastic, the risk of death and becoming disabled decreases greatly. As you become older, the cartilages are replaced with bone cells, and the accumulation of calcium salts make me hard and bony. The cartilages remained only on the joint surfaces and at the ends of ribs.</p>
<p>Dear Peter! Now it is time to ask a question that might bother you a little: have you ever been at a reopening of a grave? Sometimes in graveyards, when they do not have extra space for new burial, the dead person’s body is buried next to a body that belonged to a family member. When the grave is reopened, you can clearly see that, except for the newly buried body, all parts of the other dead body have been mingled with the earth. You can see that only my skull and other bone components have remained without decaying. After a very long time, those bones will decay too but much later than my other tissues. In the past, when the Holy Qur’an was just being revealed, some people refused to believe in God and the Day of Judgment, and asked: “Who is going to resurrect those decayed bones?”(Qur’an 36:78). The following verse is an answer: “Say, ‘He who created them in the first place will give them life again: He has full knowledge of every act of creation’” (Qur’an 36:79). In many other verses of the Qur’an, which deal with both the first creation and the Judgment Day, also mention decayed or dried bones, which still exist after many years. This means that God wants to draw your attention to the bones of your body! Perhaps, He is saying: “O, Peter! I created your bones, your joints, and your whole skeleton flawlessly. I took all measures for you to be able to live your life perfectly; to the littlest details, I created a delicate body, mind, and soul free of defects or faults. When I created you that perfectly, do you think I took something else as a model, or applied someone else’s plans? Not at all! Therefore, I, who created you out of nothing with my infinite knowledge and might, will of course be able to recreate you!”</p>
<p>Well, Peter! That is how I understand my Creator and the message of His Holy Book, which appeals to all of humanity. Your ability of comprehension and appreciation is more perfect than mine. Therefore, each time you move your body or body parts, just think of the wonderful pieces of bone accompanying and supporting your organs. Reflecting on them for some time will gain you a fresh view of life. That is what I wish as your skeleton!</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In the recent past, the Islamic world as a whole has lived through its most depressed periods, whether considered from the point of view of faith, morality, modes of thought, education, industry, customs, traditions, or practices.</p>
<p>Yet once Muslims were far more distinguished in their piety; they were more devout, more correct and decent in their morality, more stable and wholesome in their customs and practices, more worthy to dominate world affairs on account of their social and political horizons and their more progressive and sophisticated modes of thought. They practiced their religion without fault or failure, perfected their morality, understood the place and value of science and knowledge, always managed to be ahead of the level of learning and the standards of the era in which they lived, and properly appreciated and balanced the relation and interaction between inspiration, reason, and experience.</p>
<p>That is why they were able to rule such vast lands, from the Pyrenees to the Indian Ocean, from Kazan to Somalia, from Poitiers to the Great Wall of China, with the best administrative and governing system known up to that time, and their ideals aroused the admiration of all. While other peoples were experiencing the darkest ages in their history, the Muslims, in the territories under their jurisdiction, enjoyed and extended to other people’s systems of governance that were idealized as a utopia or an earthly paradise.</p>
<p>What a pity that this part of the world deviated and distanced itself from the historical dynamics and Islamic values which had kept it standing upright through the ages, and that it became slave to ignorance, immorality, superstition, and carnal pleasure. This is when Islamic civilization began its slide into the abyss of darkness and great disappointments; when it began to be dragged into one crisis after another; when it became scattered everywhere, like prayer beads when the string has been snapped; when it was left under the stairs, like pages fallen from a book with a loose binding; when it was profoundly shaken by fruitless rivalries, bent double under the weight of a thousand disputes, bewildered and stupefied into singing the songs of freedom even as it moaned and groaned bitterly under the most shameful, humiliating enslavement; when it began to lack a strong sense of identity, yet was very strong in its selfishness; when it took a stand in defiance of God and the Prophet arguing them to be taboos, yet was in the grip of so many others; when it began to become “the most wretched of all.”</p>
<p>Despite many efforts of ill-meaning detractors, from within and without, the recent gloomy period has in fact not lasted long. Muslims today, who now account for about a fifth of the human population, are striving for a fresh revival nearly everywhere in the Islamic world and are trying to save themselves from this accursed era of enslavement. Particularly in recent times, the fact that they have had to face new calamities every day has heightened the spiritual attentiveness of Muslims, has given momentum to their return to God, and has aroused and excited their resolve.</p>
<p>As we were certain of both the conformity between the spirit of Islam and human nature, with its support for both the material and spiritual advancement of humans, and with its unique quality to balance this world and the Hereafter, we survived with breathing, “the truth will always be victorious; the truth can never be defeated”1; and day and night we were in expectation of The (happy) end is for those who are righteous,2 never losing hope. And today we are able to witness, in all walks of life, a fast-growing inclination to Islam; we can now observe that Islam is coming to the fore and gaining prominence in a vast area, from the United States to the Asian steppes, from Scandinavia to Australia.</p>
<p>Although many missionary activities of different faiths are systematically carried out by various groups, they have been unable to arouse one tenth of the interest and warmth in their respective religion that greets Islam. Today, throughout many continents of the world, thousands of people choose to embrace Islam every year, taking refuge in the light of the Qur’an, even though they know that they may be sentenced to some form of starvation and misery.</p>
<p>Unless we fail to keep our loyalty to God,3 glad tidings of the divine message will be experienced once more:</p>
<p>When there comes the help of God and the victory; and you see men entering the religion of God in companies; then celebrate the praise of your Lord, and ask His forgiveness; surely He is oft-returning (to mercy). (Nasr 110:1-3)</p>
<p>From America to Europe, from the Balkans to the Great Wall of China and the heart of Africa, indeed, almost everywhere, faith, hope, security, and therefore, peace and contentment will be experienced once more under the umbrella of Islam; the whole of humanity will witness a new world order that is far beyond imagination; everyone will benefit to the extent to which their nature, disposition and mentality allow.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The September 11th tragedy was not unexpected by all who are interested in œterror as a subject matter. What really was unexpected was the attacks method, dimension, and nature, and even more so the fact that Americas defense system was unprepared for an initial attack targeting strategic points within America.</p>
<p>Unpreparedness played an unquestionable role in this tragedy. Even if American officials had been sufficiently informed in advance about how the attacks would occur and that the targets were the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and other sites, they would never have given the slightest credit to the idea that œAmerican pilots would launch a kamikaze attack from the air. Nor would they have increased all security measures in the area.</p>
<p>Take any strong country, none of which has a direct enemy. One type of enemy probably is not happy with a strong countrys policies. Another enemy would be participating in a counter-activity with a regional motivation. A third enemy would wage a direct attack on the strong country so that it would be top-listed on the global agenda. In addition, it would seek an opportunity to express its criticism to the world. A fourth enemy would organize acts of terror throughout the world in order to realize its short- and long-term political and other goals.</p>
<p>Terrorists aim to scare people, to obstruct the governments authorized arms, and to challenge the federal government in the political and military arenas. However, these reasons are not enough to explain what we are facing today. The modern world confronts more than ordinary internationalterrorism, for the terror we see today is new and has large dimensions. Its operational and philosophical characteristics are now under investigation.</p>
<p>Recently, American society has observed murders committed by students at schools, collective suicides of families, kidnappings, Timothy McVeighs Oklahoma bombing, mail bombs, poisoned letters, and so on. In my opinion, such activities cannot be coincidental and are not very favorable developments in this great country.</p>
<p>This most cruel and violent terrorist activity seems to have been planned to the smallest detail. Also, its perpetrators benefited from the methods of previous attacks: the psychological training of kamikaze pilots, how to hijack airplanes and use them like rockets, obtaining information about the air defense system and target weaknesses, and how the attacks would be directed were all carefully analyzed.</p>
<p>It is impossible to understand this tragic attack completely without a clear assessment of its perpetrators goals. Perhaps the driving motivation could be an emotional factor of punishing America for one of its acts or for being what it is today. This basic assumption was surely a significant incentive.</p>
<p>The perpetrators obviously wanted to create a shocking psychological effect on governmental officials as well as on the entire society, to defeat the opponents active defense power, to display international terrorism as if equipped with vast facilities, and especially to ensure that the American government changes its current policies. Another option also could be a type of adventure-seeking insanity or just a furious mob, both of which have found no place for themselves in this world but nevertheless wanted to draw the worlds attention to themselves.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Just as we encounter people with low intelligence or almost no intelligence at all, in a similar way it is possible to find people with above average or very high intelligence. And as schools are established for those with impaired intelligence, schools with special training in the sciences and other subjects can be established for people with superior intelligence. However, these schools or special classes should not be limited to the high school level, but should be organized on the primary school level as much as possible. Worldwide the age found acceptable for educating highly intelligent children is around 5 years. The reliability of testing decreases as the age of the child falls below this level. However, for extremely intelligent children even 3 years can be considered late. Although the selection of students in Turkey through the Anatolia High School testing system may appear to be adequate, the use of achievement tests to measure the success of applicants for acceptance to these schools becomes an obstacle to the selection of students with other natural talents. At the same time, the fact that the teachers who educate these students have not been given any special training creates a great weakness in the system. Also, at the high school level these special schools give education only in the sciences which leads to a large gap in the areas of the social sciences, arts, administration and economics.</p>
<h3><b>Definition of Superior Intelligence</b></h3>
<p>Superior intelligence results from the rapid operation on a high level of such brain functions as the senses, feelings, thought, intuition and inspiration. These functions appear in the form of the ability to think quickly and correctly, creativity, academic aptitude, leadership and talent in the visual and applied arts.</p>
<p>According to research findings, a large percentage (of the order of 85%) of superior intelligence is passed on from one generation to another through heredity. At the same time, environmental factors like education are extremely important for effective usage of superior intelligence and turning it into ‘genius’.</p>
<h3><b>Characteristics of Superior Intelligence</b></h3>
<p>We can divide these characteristics into four main groups: (a) reasoning power; (b) emotional attributes; (c) intuition; (d) social skills.</p>
<p><b>a)Reasoning Power</b></p>
<p>Possessing a lot of knowledge and not forgetting it.</p>
<p>High level of comprehension. (Comprehending the whole from its part.)</p>
<p>An unusual level of interest and curiosity in different subjects and asking a lot of questions.</p>
<p>Superior usage of language, large vocabulary and high language aptitude.</p>
<p>Fast thinking, rapid advancement and reaching conclusions quickly.</p>
<p>Flexible and different thought.</p>
<p>Broad synthesizing ability.</p>
<p>The ability to see strange, unusual and different relationships.</p>
<p>Ability to produce original ideas and solutions.</p>
<p>Early and rapid development in making generalizations, feeling results, abstract thinking and creating alternatives.</p>
<p>Stubborn, decisive, goal-oriented and sometimes even adventurous behavior.</p>
<p>Working in a disciplined manner, independent and usually rebellious behavior.</p>
<p>Easily bored, searching for things to do, and not staying idle.</p>
<p>Choosing complex and mixed things and enjoying debate.</p>
<p>Expecting interest, liking to be honored and talking a lot.</p>
<p><b>b) Emotional Attributes</b></p>
<p>Very sensitive to others. Sensing others’ thoughts.</p>
<p>Strange sense of humor. (This can sometimes offend or make others uncomfortable.)</p>
<p>Feeling different and trying to make others aware of.</p>
<p>Obvious idealism at an early age.</p>
<p>Deep feelings, emotional Perfectionism.(Consequently not liking themselves or others.)</p>
<p>Showing extraordinary success in some subjects.</p>
<p>Great interest in the unknown and mysterious subjects.</p>
<p>High concentration ability, seriousness.</p>
<p>Paying little attention to others’ rules.</p>
<p>Bringing up everywhere issues he deems vital.</p>
<p><b>c) Senses and Intuitive Powers</b></p>
<p>Extreme sensibility (regarding colors, sounds, smells, etc.)</p>
<p>An abnormal rate of physical and intellectual advancement.</p>
<p>Refusing to take part in physical activities where they are not successful, and avoiding competitive physical activities.</p>
<p>Displaying a lot of talent in one of the fine arts. (Even with no training.)</p>
<p>Beginning to think about metaphysical events before others of their age group, philosophical attitudes, strange thoughts, etc.</p>
<p>Poetical expression, beautiful and literary statements.</p>
<p>Productive in subjects requiring initiative and struggle.</p>
<p>Inner depth and loneliness resulting from it.</p>
<p>Giving importance to theoretical and esthetic values.</p>
<p>High level of love, eagerness, desire and sincere effort.</p>
<p>Frequently being absorbed in thought, strong imagination.</p>
<p><b>d) Social attributes</b></p>
<p>Realizing their wishes and early personality development.</p>
<p>Recommending good and sound solutions to social problems.</p>
<p>Leadership, setting up groups, making teams and directing.</p>
<p>Diagnosing and understanding social problems correctly.</p>
<p>Showing interest in high values like social justice, beauty and truth.</p>
<p>Possessing virtues.</p>
<p>High-level sense of justice.</p>
<p>Self-trust and decisiveness.</p>
<p>Preferring older friends.</p>
<p>All of the characteristics listed above may not be found in each individual student with superior intelligence. It is the accepted view that these students will display a superior performance in one or more of these fields. Those with superior characteristics who are supported with a good environment and strong education can emerge as ‘geniuses’ in society years later.</p>
<h3><b>Characteristics of Teachers</b></h3>
<p>Personal Character</p>
<p>They have strong egos. They are honorable, proud and strong willed; they give value and trust to the selves. They give as much value and importance to others as they do to themselves, and they respect, support and trust others.</p>
<p>They have above average intelligence.</p>
<p>They are flexible and open to new ideas.</p>
<p>They are interested in intellectual, literary and cultural subjects.</p>
<p>They strive for more knowledge and renewal; they are obsessed with success.</p>
<p>They are full of love, eagerness, effort and willingness.</p>
<p>They have strong intuition and are sensitive and understanding.</p>
<p>They seek perfection and are committed to it.</p>
<p>They act consciously and take on responsibility.</p>
<p><b>Professional Tendencies</b></p>
<p>They guide rather than using pressure and force.</p>
<p>They prefer to be democratic rather than authoritarian.</p>
<p>They concentrate on the process more than the results.</p>
<p>They favour novelty and experiment rather than rules and tradition.</p>
<p>They act quickly to achieve specific results and can solve problems.</p>
<p>Rather than answering questions, they use the method of securing answers from others.</p>
<p><b>Teaching Behaviour</b></p>
<p>They develop and implement programs of their own that are flexible and emphasize the desires of the individual.</p>
<p>They develop a warm, welcoming and tolerant atmosphere.</p>
<p>They implement strategies differing from one individual to another.</p>
<p>They respect people’s images and support positive behavior; they respect their beliefs and values.</p>
<p>They keep the lesson’s intellectual level high.</p>
<p>They respect individualist behavior and personalities.</p>
<p>While being in full control of the subject matter they are handling, they don’t neglect to renew themselves and broaden their horizons.</p>
<p>They believe in, trust in, and co-operate with their students.</p>
<p>Even if would-be teachers of students with superior intelligence do not possess all the characteristics mentioned, with time and training they can acquire them. The development of a sufficient number of them will take time and commitment. Generally a certain period of professional experience, the impression made during this experience and its results can be accepted as criteria in qualifying teachers for exceptionally gifted students. Other steps to be taken in the training of teachers for this field are seminars in university educational psychology departments in order to pass on the latest developments and to make it easier for teachers to get to know their students and so guide them effectively. Also special certificate programs or masters and doctoral programs can be set up. In the USA minimum qualifications for teachers in these schools are a doctoral degree and two years of professional training.</p>
